Healing Starts From Within
Madeleine (Maddi) Turner, LMHC
My journey to becoming a therapist started with my own healing journey. As a deep thinker and a deep feeler, I know what it’s like to overanalyze every detail until you’re spiraling, and feel everything so intensely you feel like you’re gonna explode. While the depth of my experiences does make life more interesting, it can also make navigating through life’s challenges more difficult.
Dealing with depression and anxiety from a young age, I had to learn how to navigate the world and manage my sensitivities. While I learned some helpful coping skills, it wasn’t until I started working with plant medicines and began my spiritual journey, that I truly started to connect with myself and understand my relationship to my internal world and the world around me.
Along this journey of self-discovery, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a focus on social change and social movements, and a minor in Psychology. After my undergraduate degree, I followed my passion for advocacy and social change and began working in the cannabis industry as a Washington State Certified Medical Cannabis Consultant. In my work with medical cannabis patients and their caregivers, I heard many stories of people who had been burnt out by life and trying to take care of themselves and their loved ones. Anxiety, Depression, Trauma; so much pain and no way to hold or process it. I recognized a great need for mental, emotional, and spiritual support, more than I could provide in that role. This, along with the experiences I had doing my own inner work, inspired me to follow the call of the community and pursue a career as a therapist.
In my experience as a therapist, I have worked with at-risk and underserved populations in community mental health settings and provided collaborative care for medically complex individuals at an integrative medical clinic. I have over 10yrs of experience with psychedelic education and harm reduction, and have facilitated hundreds of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy sessions.
Many of the modalities I use with my clients have been instrumental in my own healing journey. As a white, queer, AuDHD cis-woman, I recognize that while my journey may overlap with others, my journey is unique to me, just as yours is to you. I would be honored hear your story, share my tools with you, and be a witness and support on your journey back to your Inner Wisdom and Inner Light.
